If you're taking the Eurostar from London, you'll need a passport or national identity card. For journeys from within the Schengen Area into Amsterdam, there won't be passport checks as such – and you won't need your passport to purchase tickets – but you'd be mad not to carry some form of valid ID with you!
Schiphol Airport railway station is easy to get to by train. It can be easily reached using Eurostar and InterCity trains from Brussels, Amsterdam and Paris. The platforms of Schiphol station are located underneath Schiphol Plaza, the central hall of the terminal.
Check in and out with your contactless debit card, credit card or mobile to travel by bus, tram, metro or train. No registration is necessary. You pay the same travel fares you would if you were using an OV-chipkaart. When you check into a bus, tram or metro, you always pay a boarding fee of €1,08.

Should you tip taxi drivers in Amsterdam? Similarly to most services in Amsterdam, you're not expected to tip taxi drivers. However, if you are using Uber in the Dutch capital, they do give you the choice to tip your driver if you are particularly happy with the service.
A direct railway line connects Schiphol International Airport with Amsterdam Central Station, and is the fastest and most convenient form of transport to the city centre. The ride takes 15 minutes and the trains depart day and night every day. From 6am to 1am train departs every 15 minutes.
Depending on the exact distance you need to travel, the fare for a taxi from Amsterdam to Schiphol varies from €24.75 to €50.
You can of course compare cost of Uber vs public transport before deciding. How much would a normal taxi cost for the journey that I intend on doing while out in Amsterdam? About €25 each way. UberX about €15 each way.
