Does Netherlands have free college?
In general, there are no tuition-free options. The best way to study in the Netherlands for free is to obtain a scholarship. There are various scholarship options for international students, with some excellent opportunities for non-EEA students.
Public Dutch universities charge tuition fees to all international students regardless of their country of origin. However, students coming from the EU/EEA, Switzerland and Surinam often pay lower tuition fees than non-EU/EEA students.
The Dutch government funds primary, secondary, vocational and higher education in the Netherlands. Education is therefore mostly free. However, students and their families are usually required to pay some additional fees. Different costs apply to students at private schools, which set their own tuition fees.
You can expect to pay anywhere between: 6,000 - 15,000 EUR/year for a Bachelor's degree. 8,000 - 20,000 EUR/year for a Master's degree.

All HBO and WO courses fall under the bachelor-master system. Bachelor's degree programmes are broader, while master's degree programmes lead to specialisation in a chosen field. HBO bachelor's degree programmes take 4 years, WO bachelor's programmes take 3 years.
The Netherlands has 16 million inhabitants and Dutch is the only official language of the country. Frisian, spoken in the Northern province of Fryslân, has been granted local offical language status too. Frisian is very close to English.

Can I survive with English in Netherlands?
You'll be able to get around and survive speaking only English. However, people will know that you're not a local Dutchman. In all honesty, this doesn't really matter, though, as the Dutch are very friendly to expats. If you live in the Netherlands and only speak English, it just might be hard at times.
There's no denying it: you can get by in Amsterdam without speaking Dutch. But learning the local language can open new doors and completely change your experience of living in the Netherlands.
To get into Netherlands Universities, students must obtain a bachelor's degree from a research university (WO) in the Netherlands and must have an unrounded minimum grade point average (GPA) of 7.0. A GPA of 6.95 will be rounded off to 7.0.
You'll need a student residence permit to study in the Netherlands. Only a higher education institution recognized as a sponsor can apply for you. There are several requirements for applying for a student residence permit, including proof of registration at a higher education institution and income requirements.
According to the EF English Proficiency Index 2022, the Netherlands ranks number 1 out of 111 countries and Dutch students consequently are likely to see the U.S. as a prime study destination. The World Economic Forum has ranked the Netherlands as the third most educated country in the world.
