How to activate Nvidia DLSS? ›

DLSS isn't useful if it's not available in your favorite PC games. That aside, DLSS is an excellent technology for PC gamers, and those who own Nvidia hardware should use it as frequently as possible. It can noticeably boost performance with little to no downside.

At 4K using the Quality mode, we found that 10 games looked better with DLSS, 4 games were on par, and 10 games achieved better results with native rendering. At 1440p, using the Quality mode, DLSS outperformed native rendering in 10 games, tied in 5, and was outperformed by native rendering in 9 games.

AMD FSR is a technology from AMD and is primarily available for graphics cards from that manufacturer, but can also be used on certain third-party graphics cards. Nvidia DLSS is a technology from Nvidia and requires an Nvidia graphics card of the Turing or Ampere architecture.

Dlss reders the game at lower resolution and display at set resolution. Ex. Playing on 1440p will render at 1080p and display at 1440p. Dlss has 3 to 4 modes, quality, performance, and balanced, and sometimes you see auto or ultra performance. Dlaa renders your game at native resolution.

However, when you enable DLSS in balanced mode, the frame rate doubles to 89 fps. That means you get all the fancy eye candy that the Ray Tracing Overdrive update brings, but at a fast frame rate, and that's before Frame Generation, new with Nvidia RTX 4000 cards, enters the picture.

Boosts performance by using AI to generate more frames. DLSS Frame Generation analyzes sequential frames and motion data from the new Optical Flow Accelerator in GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs to create additional high-quality frames.

Does NVIDIA® DLSS support all games? No, not all games currently support NVIDIA® DLSS. However, the list of supported games is continuously growing as more developers integrate DLSS into their titles.

Internal resolution at 1080p

The Ultra Performance mode is optional, so you may not see it in every DLSS game. You're safe with the core three modes. Naturally, Balanced looks better than Performance, and Quality looks the best, but all three modes are usable.

When running on a 4090 on max settings I get 60-70% GPU usage causing frame rates as low as 50fps on max settings. enabling DLSS just lowers the GPU usage but does not affect the framerate. When the game is paused during a race, the GPU usage will jump to 99% and the frame rate jumps over 120.

Is DLSS worth getting Nvidia over AMD? ›

Between DLSS and FSR, Nvidia's tech is the winner. It offers comparable performance, it's available in more games, and it achieves much better image quality.

When you enable DLSS or FSR, the internal resolution is lowered and upscaled. This, in theory, increases FPS, but this load is moved to the CPU because the GPU doesn't have to work as hard to pump more pixels, the CPU needs to work harder to render those FPS the GPU asks, the result being more CPU usage.

DLSS is objectively better than FSR, FSR is just more compatible. This game uses a borked version of DLSS 3 though, you should manually replace it with DLSS 2.5. 1 or 3.1. 11 for 40 series cards.

Open the NVIDIA Control Panel and navigate to Adjust video image settings > RTX Video Enhancement — then enable HDR.

Therefore, only Nvidia RTX series graphics cards, including the RTX 20-series and RTX 30-series, support DLSS. Here is a list of some of the Nvidia graphics cards that support DLSS: GeForce RTX 3090.

NVIDIA DLSS support has been added to the game. Access Title Screen Menu > Options > Display > NVIDIA DLSS to enable NVIDIA DLSS support. Note: NVIDIA DLSS requires an NVIDIA RTX graphics board and Windows 10. This setting will not be displayed in environments that are not compatible.
