Nothing quite explains the feeling of losing an aircraft, a wingman, or retiring from a community that you grew up with from the ripe old age of 19yrs young. It's hard to put into words all the experiences you've seen along the way and more importantly it's hard to get past and move on. For those that don't know the plane I flew on the last 22yrs of my service will be officially retired. My plans are heading down to Tucson, AZ to see this beautiful KC-10A Extender aircraft make its final landing. It's the last of the 59 aircraft that have been in operation since the dawn of its time. Anyone who's interested in attending here's some details. I know lodging is filling up quick. I'm crashing on a friends couch and I'm driving to limit cost control 🤞🏽😂Jet is supposed to land 26 Sept 2024 around 2pm in Tucson, AZ. There will be a static display for about 2 days once it lands and then I'm sure you all can find an after party to attend if you're feeling frisky. Personal message me if you want to know my specific plans but God willing I will be there to see the plane I flew 5,000hrs, 2,000 combat hrs, over 500 missions and have met over 1,000s of people across the globe on. Serving 3 wars and seeing grief, great, bad, and ugly is an understatement. I might cry because it's truly not about the metal, the vessel that took me from place to place, it's the people along the way that I worked blood...sweat...and tears with. The men and women I served with or served for. It's going to be an absolute honor to witness this momentous occasion and hope to see any and all there in Tucson on the 26th! Cheers to you all if I don't see ya 🍻Until we meet again!

Jess, your thoughts were so eloquently presented to us here. This is the second aircraft that I’ve flown on that has been retired. First was the C-20 (Gulfstream3). But the -10, that plane will ALWAYS have a place in my heart. Like you said, the mission was the mission. At times it was fun, or amazing, or questionable (“Your entire drag has been cancelled!”) But that three engined denier of gravity, took me to 5 of the seven continents, countries I’ll probably NEVER step foot in again, and allowed me to take some amazing pictures of the ever changing landscape from thousands of feet in the air. Most importantly it brought people like you, and all the other fellow enlisted members I drove to work. Like you, Lucy and James. All my FE buddies, pilots like “Preach”, Jannell MacAulay, PhD and Johnny Barnes. Am I sad “Big Sexy” is riding off to AMARC? Yes. But I wouldn’t change the memories it help me make.

Thanks for putting your feelings into words. I think Big Sexy holds a special place in the hearts of all who contributed to her mission. It’s truly a phenomenal airframe and is being put out to pasture well ahead of it’s time. But that’s just the opinion of an old sweaty. It was an honor and a pleasure to get the serve with you. I got to climb aboard one last time at a recent air show.

Being a mom comes with responsibility however more importantly I know most of us mommas have pride, joy, sadness, happiness, stressed, love, compassion, seeing red 😂, over the moon blessed and above all ....love beyond our wildest dreams. These two boys and I decided to ride bikes to a local corner gas station not too far from us yesterday. Then we proceeded to go to the school by our house which Mason will be attending this year and swung on swings and laughed so hard our bellies hurt! Creating the memories of happiness can be hard when you don't make them a priority or even yourself as a priority for them. All the feelings I just mentioned will always come, how we react with most of those feelings will last for a lifetime. I'm trying to make memories that are not only long lasting but burned in our brain as if we can remember them so clearly it was yesterday and I think yesterday's happiness was just that. I choose happiness and love. God Bless everyone and enjoy your Friday 🤩
