I had another nightmare. I’ve had this particular one a few times now. In it, I’m in Murphy’s warehouse and I’m strapped down to a table so tightly that I can’t move. Murphy points a single spotlight on me and lurks around the edge of the beam so that I can’t see him, but I still know he’s there. I can’t see anything outside of the little circle of light and it becomes my entire world. Hundreds of needles stick out of my arms and legs and face and pin me to the table almost as much as the restraints do. The needles connect to hundreds of tubes that fill slowly with vampire venom. I know that the venom is going to hurt worse than anything I’ve ever felt before in my life, but in the dream, I’m frozen in that second before I feel the pain. Suddenly the lights turn on and the entire room is so blindingly bright and I can see what was obscured only moments before by the darkness: dozens and dozens of people, all standing in a circle around my table. You’re there, and so is my mom, and the rest of Unit Bravo, and Elidor, and Tina, and Verda, and that one doctor that did my bloodwork, and so many more people whose names and faces I don’t know. You all just stand there, with empty expressions and unblinking eyes, waiting to see what happens when the venom finally reaches me. And then I wake up.

I was completely alone, but I could hear Murphy’s footsteps echoing in the distance. Every step was agony, but I had to keep going or else I knew that he would find me. But no matter how far I fled, I could never find my way out. I just kept running forever with Murphy getting closer and closer behind me.
