Document placed under plexiglass sheets, on post at Fort Benning, and eventually stored away in heated, light less room for the past forty years.

Document is a large-spread, double-sided, civil war 3-month payroll for Company C, 98th Regiment, a Philadelphia formed volunteer unit. Over the past forty years I have spent hundreds of hours with this document. You also get my research about soliders who were assigned. Someone in Philadelphia will most probably be able to take this massive two-sided document and have it digitally scanned and perhaps provide copies to some interested descendants of those brave young men, who volunteered for duty.

Visiting Andersonville, GA, the Prison, and National POW Museum is a moving, memorable experience. This document is a tribute to those soldiers containing their original payroll signatures and a snapshot of their lives.

What is for sale? Civil War original document captured at Andersonville, GA when 98th Pennsylvania Regimental soldiers were captured, /interred at Andersonville Prision, Georgia. I am a Field Grade, Retired US Army Officer who was stationed at Fort Benning in the 1970-1990s as a SSG, SFC, 2LT, 1LT Infantry Weapons NCO and Officer. I made visits to Andersonville, Prison and on one trip obtained a captured document in the possession of locals. The document is an original U.S. Army payroll which was purchased folded up. I unfolded the massive document which is two-sided and placed under a double sheet of plexiglass where it has been for the past forty years. Maintained in a heated, darkened room. This document is a payroll for Company C, 98th Pennsylvania Regiment for a three month period during the Civil War.
